Freudenberg Performance Materials Apparel Europe has started construction work on a new competence centre for the finishing and coating of base materials for the apparel industry at its site in Sant’Omero in Italy with a view to operations beginning there in early 2023.

The company is concentrating its manufacturing of base materials for interlinings at its plant in Weinheim, Germany The current production plant for finishing and coating at Weinheim will therefore be transferred to Sant’Omero and recommissioned in a newly-built production hall.

“Thanks to the outstanding work of our employees, this complex project is running to schedule despite the corona pandemic, and we have now reached this important milestone,” said Dr Hannah Koeppen, general manager of Freudenberg Performance Materials Apparel Europe.
