Artilect, a creator of innovation-driven products designed to increase user performance through its systems-based A/SYS technical apparel system, has won two awards from the annual Backcountry Magazine 2023 Gear Guide. The Flatiron 185 baselayer as Editor’s Choice and the Formation 3L Shell winning the Gear Guide Select designation took home the top honours.

The Flatiron 185 baselayer and the Formation 3L Shell are key components in the A/SYS-DNA technology array, utilizing aligned layers and technologies working in unison to protect against threats from both the inside-out and the outside-in, designed to increase wearer performance. The Flatiron 185 baselayers are the critical next-to-skin layer in A/SYS-1. At the same time, the Formation 3L Shell protects against the elements as an A/SYS-5 Missionlayer featuring Artilect’s proprietary High and Dry stretch waterproof/breathable solution.

“It is an honour to be recognized by Backcountry Magazine for two performance pieces that are taking technical apparel to the next level,” commented Trent Bush, founder of Artilect. “We set out to break new ground in technical apparel performance, and the feedback from the field continues to be incredible. We’ve worked directly with the teams at Nuyarn, Empel, Allied Feather + Down, Trizar, Primaloft, YKK, and many others to drive new technologies for both performance and sustainability, and our FW 2022 collection demonstrates this from baselayer to Missionlayer.”

Flatiron 185 Baselayer

”‹Named after the iconic rock formation standing above Artilect’s headquarters in Boulder, these A/SYS-1 baselayers come in a ¼ Zip top, Crew top, and Leggings for both women and men. The Flatiron pieces are made with 185gsm Nuyarn merino fabric technology, offering 35% more loft for an unmatched warmth-to-weight ratio, superior moisture management capabilities and dry time, and rock-solid durability. The Superfine 18-micron non-mulsed Australian merino wool offers maximum softness, wearability, and natural anti-odour capabilities.

Formation 3L Shell

”‹Artilect’s Formation 3L Jacket represents the furthest expression of our innovation-driven performance technologies, combined to create the ultimate protective component of the A/SYS apparel system. The Formation features Artilect’s proprietary PFA/PFC/PTFE-free High and Dry waterproof/breathable technology featuring a 4-way stretch nylon shell with 30k/30k W/B performance supercharged with Empel superhydrophobic DWR and Trizar heat management. The Formation also features many future-thinking, world-first technologies from YKK - its user-repairable centre front zipper with TouchLink functionality and PU Conceal venting for seamless protection.
